Reading a book can be a solo adventure – but what if you had a friendly sidekick along for the ride? The AI Companion is an optional digital co-pilot I’m creating to support your journey through the book. It’s like a chatty little helper you can talk to as you explore the ideas in Your Existence Is the Universe Trying to Get Its Shit Together. Think of it as having the author (that’s me!) or a well-read friend available to converse with, any time you want, right alongside you.
The AI companion is essentially a conversational tool. You can ask it questions about concepts from the book, toss it a question about how an idea might apply to a specific scenario in your life, or even just share an idea that popped into your head while reading. It will do its best to respond in a thoughtful, helpful way. The companion knows the book’s themes and can pull from them to clarify points or offer gentle prompts. It’s there to enhance your understanding and make reading a more interactive experience. There’s no special setup or tech knowledge needed; if you can send a message, you can use the companion. It’s all designed to be straightforward and user-friendly.
I’m genuinely excited about this because it reflects the spirit of the project: exploration, curiosity, and conversation. Just like the book won’t tell you what to think, the companion won’t either. But, it will happily join you in asking questions and looking for perspective. In short, it’s here for you, on your terms. Use it as much or as little as you like, or not at all. Regardless of the path, the journey is yours to enjoy.
